Teddy Bear Project

The Teddy Bear Project is an initiative focused on repurposing fabric scraps to keep them out of the landfill.

The project began after receiving over 1,600 pounds of textile waste donations. We began to brainstorm ideas of ways we could recycle the textile waste and decided to use the fabrics to stuff giant teddy bears for local schools or organizations on Maui. For the shredding, we are partnering with Mālama Maui Nui, a Keep America Beautiful affiliate here on Maui. Each teddy bear is stuffed with approximately 100 pounds of repurposed textiles.
