As part of our grant from the Maui County Recycling Department, we are offering monthly sewing workshops specifically for beginners that have never or rarely used a sewing machine before, and feel unsure about getting started. These sessions are designed to help participants learn the very basics: how to thread a machine, sew a seam, and gain the confidence needed to join our Sewing Sewcials.

Your kuleana

To participate, there are two things for you to do: ​ ​

1. Volunteer with The Sewing Hui 30 days prior to the workshop. Non-sewing tasks count. You can volunteer in the studio or at home.

2. Bring worn out textiles to use as stuffing for our Teddy Bear Project.
